Learning Journal #8 (105)

This is an interesting question. I was actually wondering this the other day. At the beginning of the course, I mainly just knew numbers, weather vocab, greetings, colors, and some other random words. I struggled a lot with remembering new words that we would cover in class. This may have been due to the lack of sufficient time that I would put into studying the language outside of class. Naturally, of course, I began to learn and remember more words over time when I would study more. I started remembering foods, days of the week, months, seasons, verbs and more. I began by using Quizlet vocabulary words that Gökhan would post up for the class. Then, I found this cool app from Duolingo called Tiny Cards, which had a lot vocabulary set up in an interactive way. I think that this tool was very instrumental in helping me remember a lot of words. It’s really fun and it does not feel like I am learning.

I do not necessarily have any goals regarding my acquisition of vocabulary. I just want to keep learning whatever useful words that will help me communicate with people. Even if I do not know a specific word, I hope that my vocabulary will be sufficient for me to describe what I want to say in order to communicate my thought.
