Learning Plan

I decided to use the learning plan template that was sent out to us. I will insert it below so that it can be accessed. Overall, my main goal is to have very basic-level conversations in Korean. For example, "Hello... how are you... I am good, how are you... What are you up to... I am blank years old... I will see you later..." These are just a few brief examples of what I am looking forward to learning. Although my main goals are centered on having conversations, my tasks also involve other elements, such as listening to the radio, completing grammar worksheets, and reading children's books. My ultimate goal for the future is to become fluent in Korean, so I believe these small steps will be very helpful throughout the process. I also sent my plan to Emily (my tutor), and she was able to look through it and shape our lessons to fit with it. For this week, I am focusing on learning Hangul through YouTube videos, but when she and I have our lesson, she will also walk me through Hangul…

Language Learning Plan

SDLAP Learning Plan Charlton.pdfI organized my self-directed learning plan to move step by step, starting with tones and sounds, then building vocabulary, followed by short phrases, simple sentences, and eventually basic conversations. Since I am learning very basic vocabulary, I’m using mostly online resources such as HelloChinese. If I move through these early stages more quickly, I plan to incorporate more advanced materials later on, but for now audio-based apps make the most sense given my goals. This…

Wyrick, Lang-Learning Plan

I used the self-directed learning plan template and found it very useful for organizing my plan. First, I evaluated my knowledge of the language. Then, I created goals that I believe will build on each other and help me achieve medium-to-high novice fluency by the end of the semester. So far, almost all my Bahasa Indonesia skills are at a low novice level. When I was in Indonesia this Summer, I was able to communicate where I was from and use other single memorized words.Additionally, I struggled to recognize words when native speakers spoke quickly. I believe that my goals reflect the issues I faced this Summer (due to my own lack of consistent study). To support my learning, I have identified many helpful resources and two books to promote my task-based objectives. Apps like DuoLingo, LinguaLeo, and Memrise are free, and I already have accounts for two of them. There are also many online quizzes and games to test my language skills, along with iTalki for one-on-one conversation. To…
