  • Your post reminded me that several Korean terms are almost identical to the English word. Personally, I know almost no Korean, but a great place to start is learning these Korean terms. Doing so exposes me to Korean sounds, and it also helps me expand my Korean vocabulary without learning a completely different word. Also, I didn't know that there are acronyms that contain the English alphabet. I will have to learn these next!

  • Hey Felicitas! Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post. I just want you to know that I and my friends that are Korean learners have the same problem too. Korean is fairly simple to read once you learn the Hangul characters, but like in the English language, we may have the ability to read a word but learning and familiarizing the term into our vocabulary is a whole different beast, which even I struggle to do. A suggestion I have is to find and watch Korean dramas or entertainment programs with subtitles, which will help you get familiar with common words in Korean.

  • When learning a language, it definitely helps to be exposed to it early on. I also like the approach of defining a term in your own words because it makes it easier to remember the term and you also practice your writing. Lastly, I agree that it is fairly easy to write Korean if you know Hangul characters, but even though I know how to spell it, I sometimes struggle with understanding the actual meaning.
