Cultural Post #8

Recently, the new music video of Black Pink, Kill This Love, was banned by South Korean television network KBS, and the reason for the ban is a scene in which band member Rose drives a car without wearing a seatbelt. Since KBS has been known to be strict for the regulations and disqualification including traffic law violation. At the beginning, I thought it was a interesting news; however, since K-pop has such a huge influence in South Korea, especially for teenagers, so that the strictness of broadcast should be appreciated.12746872866?profile=original

  •   I am fan of Rose(as you know), but I think this is a really interesting news. It is not surprised to me that this music video get banned by KBS because Korean TV networks are always strict about lyrics, music video and their costumes. This post shows a interesting aspect of Korean culture. Good post!

  • I think that is really funny/interesting that this video would get banned by a TV network, considering that this is something that you do not really think about when you watch TV shows or music videos. Often, people might be able to spot an inconsistency on a TV show or someone realistically not using a tool incorrectly, but these actions are often laughable. I guess in a music video, we are even less likely to pay attention to the fact that people are not following safety procedures as they would in real life. For a television network to ban a video like this, must really show the influence BLACKPINK may possibly hold on the general population, which is an insight I do not possess since I do not really follow k-pop. Really interesting post!
