112 Bi Weekly Post 4

For these past two weeks we have been focused on current events in South Korea.

We started the week by talking about the schooling system in South Korea. We talked about the making of "수능" which is the Korean SAT. We talked about how this was such a big deal in South Korea that planes are actually grounded for the whole day and the test making process. This gave me an insight to how much emphasis Korean culture puts on education. During these lessons, we talked about other vocabulary and other cultural norms of Korea regarding studying and College entrances. This was an eye opening experience that taught me how different the culture was in Korea. I believe that learning a language is important, but we should not forget to learn about culture.

The next week we talked about other current events that was happening. We talked about the North Korean deflector that ran across the border and the earthquake that occurred in South Korea. This surprisingly led to a conversation about politics in Korea and the potential issues that arise from this. I learned lots of things about the Korean political system and the intricate details that are going on in Korea right now. This taught me the culture and politics of Korea and made me more aware of what was going on in the country.
