Because I'm in the lower intermediate level of Korean, it's difficult to say exactly how many words I have learned so far. I have some background in Korean, so many of the words I've learned came easy to me. I think I learned between 200 new words in Korean. I think it would have been helpful if I was able to learn with a language partner for I could use the new words in discussion, but I mainly learned them online and through Korean dramas and shows. I watch Korean shows and dramas with English subtitles, but when I come across or hear an unfamiliar word or a phrase, I look it up in a Korean-English dictionary. I created a Quizlet for Korean with new vocabulary words, idioms, and common slangs. With my acquisition of vocabulary, I hope to visit Korea and be able to speak more at restaurants, hospital, stores, etc, without depending heavily on my Korean friends or family members.
