When looking into how the brain handles speech production and comprehension, many professionals are split between believing that it is localized and between believe that the entire brain plays some role in it, so they’ve come to a conclusion that some parts of the brain can play a more significant role than others. To be specific, Broca’s area in the cortex has been found to be important for the production of speech and Wernic’s area in the cortex has been found to be important for the comprehension of speech. When we hear a word, for our brain to make sense of it the word itself is usually not enough. Words by themselves can mean a lot of things, so that things that truly helps us understand the meaning of something that we hear are the context clues, environmental clues, and anything else that can be offered around just the word. So, I figured one way that I can advance my conversational skills is by learning some basic vocabulary and then trying to communicate about things whose words I’m not aware of yet using the basic vocabulary that I learn.
