Using Squid Game as a primary resource, Claire and I have watched two additional episodes. We also began incorporating some vocabulary drills after our viewing sessions to reinforce what we’ve learned. I wanted to build on my previous insights into the language while also feeling more comfortable expressing my thoughts in conversations. As we analyze the episodes, we often share jokes about the characters and their situations, making our learning feel fun and relatable. Claire’s enthusiasm continues to inspire me, and her insights into cultural references have sparked many thought-provoking discussions. We both aim to make language learning a dynamic and engaging experience. In addition to our Squid Game sessions, we introduced a few new strategies:
• Vocabulary Drills: After watching episodes, I write down key phrases and create flashcards for review.
• Cultural Exploration: We discuss how the themes and conversations in the show relate to real-life scenarios in South Korea, further enhancing our understanding.
However, I still find myself hesitating when trying to recall vocabulary mid-conversation, especially when the dialogue picks up pace. I see the value in mixing media types, so I want to continue using flashcards but also incorporate audio resources like podcasts or music. I also plan to initiate more conversations with Claire outside of our watch sessions to create more opportunities for speaking practice. Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep building on these experiences. I want to practice more listening exercises targeting rapid speech, and I aim to set aside time for spontaneous conversations with Claire to solidify my speaking skills. By diversifying my learning materials and methods, I hope to create a well-rounded approach to mastering Korean.
