So far, the progress has been going pretty well. There have definitely been some ups and downs as the progression to learning hasn’t been exactly linear. Some changes I have made throughout the process was loosening the structure a bit and focusing on the holistic aspect and fusion of culture and language rather than examining the specific syntactic aspects of Korean. I found myself utilizing Naver which is one of the most popular search engines in Korea. Whether it be from simply searching up questions to reading interesting blogs that I find, I feel like this has progressed my ability to understand both reading and writing but also the cultural aspect. As I've also stated in my learning plan, consuming Korean movies and shows have also surprisingly helped my fluidity in Korean. Hearing how specifically words or phrases are said and received are very helpful, especially in video format. Furthermore, I am able to pick up contextual aspects that further deepen my understanding of the culture itself which I feel is important and plays a large role in learning the language. I do however think that going forward, having a bit more structure to my learning plan will allow me to target specific areas of where I want to concentrate my korean learning in order to improve rather than targeting the language as a whole.
