Over the past month, my primary focus has been on expanding my vocabulary and grammar in Hangul to understand longer sentences and write more complex articles. This involved learning new words and how to use different grammatical structures effectively.
Having meetings with my language partner, Jason, we set goals to have new vocabulary and grammatical concepts weekly. During our sessions, we discussed complex sentence structures, and wrote sample articles together. Our discussions often included cultural references and contexts, with somehow more realistic approach into how language operates within Korean culture. Jason’s feedback was crucial, as he pointed out areas where I could refine my sentence structures for better clarity.
Here are my several ways of learning:
• Vocabulary Lists: I created themed vocabulary lists that focused on specific topics we were discussing.
• Grammar Exercises: I practiced exercises from various language learning websites that targeted complex sentence structures.
• Writing Practice: I wrote short articles based on prompts and shared them with Minji for feedback.
• Reading Comprehension: I read Korean articles and analyzed their sentence structures and vocabulary usage, which helped me understand context better.
Moving forward, I plan to focus on specific topics by exploring more natural expressions and proverbs in Hangul. This will not only help enrich my vocabulary but also give me a more holistic understanding of the language itself. I also want to use this opportunity to see if I can write articles in Hangul which I have never tried before, both exciting and challenging.
I plan to revise my short-term goals to include more targeted writing practices, such as focusing on one complex grammatical structure at a time, along with regular vocabulary reviews. My long-term goal remains to engage in more in-depth conversations and write comprehensive articles that truly reflect my understanding of both the language and culture.
