Journal Entry 4
David and I met up to watch this new Korean drama that came out recently called Mr. Plankton. It's about a man who is diagnosed with a terminal illness where he has vascular malformations in his brain. With 3 months left to live, he embarks on a journey in search for his father who abandoned him at birth. He also reconnects with a former lover, and as they rekindle their love for one another, she joins him on his journey.
I think this was a very good drama to watch since the characters used a variety of different dialects. I've started my process of learning different dialects and being able to understand them and so far, I think I've made some good progress. I was able to understand a lot of the dialects spoken, but there were a couple moments where characters were speaking too fast or the accent was so thick that it was difficult to understand. David would go over these moments with me by slowing down the speed of the video and allow me to fully hear what is being said and fix any misunderstandings that I had. We ended up watching two episodes out of the ten and are planning on finishing the rest little by little.

I'm also watching a tv series with my language partner to help with my conversational Korean and listening comprehension and have found it very helpful! I'd reccomend the series "Moving" which also shows tidbits of real Korean history and shows a lot about Korean school culture, work culture, family dynamics, and more. I'll have to watch Mr. Plankton, it sounds like it was fun!
Wow another K drama, you really do enjoy them! That is great that you and David are able to enjoy them together. I also like the description that you gave about it maybe I will have to watch it! Keep practicing your listening skills it seems challenging but by watching the Kdramas I'm sure you are getting so much better.
