Turkish 111: Cultural post 3

This week I learned about the importance of gold in Turkish customs. It is tradition to give gold coins or jewelry to brides of their wedding day or babies when they are born. There are stores in Turkey only for gold items. A gold bracelet could be worth $2,000. At the end of these events, you cash in all the gold you got. Brides get an average of $40,000. I equate this to the money dance in American culture except couples tend to get way less than $40,000. I decided I should get married in Turkey.
