My family is essentially made up of Ashkenazim Jews. For those of you who don't know what that means, we are German Jews. There are many typical foods that people like my family eat. For example, borscht (beet soup), brisket, challah, charoset, gefilte fish, goulash, hamantashen, kugel, latkes, lox, macaroons, matzah balls, matza, pickled herring, schnitzel. These are typical foods that we eat and enjoy.
When I was younger, my favorite dish to make with my mother was brisket. It's so easy and extremely delicious. Now a days, I make the latkas for my family and attempt to help with the gefilte fish... even though it is not my favorite.
Not many people know what is in the gefilte fish- and I won't tell you what is because then you probably won't eat it...
