1. Describe the phonetic inventory of your target language. Are there sounds in your language that doesn't exist in English? Provide several phonetic transcriptions of important words.
2. What do you need to know about the structure of your target language? How will you acquire the knowledge you need? Have you identified resources and textbooks to promote your task-based objectives? Why or why not?
It seems that a lot of the Bengali words have more emphasis than the English language. It was very interesting going through the words and dissecting them through the phonetic inventory. Listening tremendously helps me identify the different pronunciations of words. A few of the learning tasks, such as the music and movie, have greatly helped me identify the different sounds in Bengali. I have also downloaded a few Bangladeshi apps to help me in the process. The apps that I use are “Bangladeshi Radio Live Player,” “Learn Bengali Quickly,” and “Go Talk.” They all help with listening, speaking, and pronouncing each word properly.

For the last post I posted my first artifact conversation. I went over the artifact with my learning partner afterwards and she thinks I spoke similar to a native speaker. There is a slight American accent, but overall each word was properly stated with emphasis on the appropriate letters. A native Bengali speaker could understand and respond back. In fact, I spoke to a family member using the knowledge from artifact and they were able to understand and respond to me.
