a) As a language learner and cultural explorer this semester, I've gained some valuable insights into my learning process. Firstly, I've learned that consistency is key. Practicing Korean regularly, even if it's just for a short time each day, has been crucial for my progress. Additionally, I've realized the importance of immersing myself in Korean culture through various media such as movies, music, and news. This not only helps with language acquisition but also provides a deeper understanding of Korean society and values.
One difficulty I encountered was maintaining motivation, especially during busy periods. Sometimes it was challenging to stay focused and keep up with my language learning routine. However, I found that setting specific, achievable goals helped me stay on track. Breaking down larger goals into smaller tasks made the learning process feel more manageable.
What I've enjoyed most is the sense of achievement that comes with making progress in Korean. Whether it's understanding a new grammar concept or having a conversation with a native speaker, each milestone brings a feeling of accomplishment. I've also enjoyed exploring Korean culture through dramas, films, and traditional cuisine.
To continue my learning, I plan to integrate Korean into my daily life as much as possible. This includes practicing speaking and listening through language exchange partners or online communities, as well as reading Korean news articles and books. I also want to continue watching Korean TV shows and movies to improve my listening skills and cultural understanding.
(b) Among the readings and learning activities, I found interactive resources like language exchange platforms and online forums to be the most useful. These platforms allowed me to practice my Korean skills in real-life situations and receive feedback from native speakers. I also found grammar textbooks and online courses helpful for building a solid foundation in Korean grammar and vocabulary.
In terms of what I'd like to learn more about, I'm interested in diving deeper into Korean history and literature. Understanding the historical context behind certain cultural aspects can provide valuable insights into contemporary Korean society. Additionally, exploring Korean literature in its original language would not only improve my language skills but also expose me to different writing styles and perspectives.
