The culture projects I watched and listened to for the past several weeks have been very informative. One of the beneficial aspects of the culture projects was that it allowed everyone to go beyond what was simply discussed in class, and allowed us to view a unique aspect about a culture that most of us have no previous interaction with. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly a few things I learned through the projects because I can recall becoming aware of so many different cultural aspects in each presentation. The discussions ranged across an array of topics, which included weddings, music, food, military, that I found insights into parts of each culture that I was previously unaware of. I also believe, at least for myself, that working on the culture projects exposed everyone to new things in the culture he or she was working with throughout the semester. Personally, in addition to everyone else's projects, I learned some things about Afghan culture while working on my project that I did not know beforehand. Truly, after each culture project I came away with something new, from learning about the Israeli military to the impact hookah has on Turkish culture.
