Learning Journal #1:

I grew up speaking english and french, so the last time I had to formally learn a language was in high school when I took spanish for a couple years. Since it was so similar to french in my mind, I was able to learn easily and still remember a lot to this day. However, learning turkish is a bit different because even though there are many words that are similar to french, a large amount is not. Therefore, the most effective way for me to learn new words in turkish is to write them down and repeat them multiple times. I also think learning whole sentences is very effective because it forces you to memorize whole structures, and then you can break down the sentence and understand the smaller parts.
