I am quite excited to have my first meeting with my language teacher and my partner; it is something I am truly looking forward to. In 105, we just completed our learning plan and the tasks that go with it. Even though my main goals are focused on speaking and listening to improve my conversation skills, I have still created multiple tasks that focus on my reading and writing skills as well.

While creating my learning plan, I made sure to include many auditory activities since I am an auditory learner. I included many YouTube videos, time to listen to music, writing down conversations or audiobooks, listening to the radio, and interacting with Emily. I am allowing myself to be flexible with my learning plan, though. If I ever want to add something in or even delete something, I can. I also want to remind myself that for every task I added in possible ways to accomplish that task, but I do not have to do all of them. Maybe I find one that I enjoy the most, and I stick with that one. Learning Korean is supposed to be fun, which is why I want to enjoy it and find out what works best for me.

Although I have created each task with different points and activities attached to them, I do not have a laid-out calendar for each week or each day; this is purposeful. Every week at the beginning of the week, I plan to sit down and pick out a few tasks for the upcoming week or two. I will keep a pattern or sheet so that I know which weeks are focused on what tasks and what tasks I have not given as much attention to. This will ensure that I have a good variety and do not get bored from week to week. Of course, there will be some things or events that will require prior planning. For example, I would love to go to one of the Korean Christian churches in the area. Whether that is to volunteer or simply go to one of the services, I want to have that on my schedule. With that in mind, I will probably need to communicate to find out when I can go and all the logistics around it. Creating a new agenda every week will definitely take more effort, but it also allows me to do what I want to for that week.

I have not had a meeting with Emily yet, but it is something that we are planning, and I am looking forward to it. My partner is Krystal, so I anticipate that we will communicate with one another over our goals and make plans for what we should practice with Emily when we meet with her. Personally, I think it will be important for me to do a lot of the work behind the scenes and then ask questions or hold conversations in person. When I say behind the scenes, I mean using YouTube videos to learn Hangul, understand the basics of grammar, reading and writing on my own, and then using Emily as a resource for questions, conversations, and to look over my work.

Overall, I am really excited for this experience and what I will get to learn. For this month, I am going to start out with the basics, but I plan to have Hangul memorized before my next reflection. I also anticipate adding or adjusting goals, so I will expand on any of those changes in my future reflection as well.
