Hebrew

Randomly, my friends asked me the other day- "Is Hebrew like Latin- basically left unspoken unless in the torah?"- WHAT? I was shocked that they didn't realize that is still a living language. Hebrew is the language of the Jewish people. How my friends didn't realize that it is commonly spoked my millions of people in Israel was shocking to me. They might have asked if Arabic wasn't spoken in Palestine or anywhere else across the world...

Hebrew is Leshon Hakodesh, meaning the holy tongue- and remain a living language of the Jewish people. Regardless of what my friends thought, they were even more surprised to find out that Hebrew is not just written in one script. For example, they have cursive and print. However, unlike american cursive, Hebrew cursive looks almost nothing like the print. When you look at the print, even differentiating and looking at them side by side, it is hard to tell what each letter is. Additionally, when reading script, vowels are almost never used- which makes learning the language and reading without extensive experience quite difficult.
