Writing in Korean has been somewhat of a challenge, because of my dysgraphia it makes it somewhat hard to create the specific letters. With that being said though I have been taking my time and practicing the Alphabet by writing it down in my free time. Isaac has also been very understanding and has a lot of patience when it comes to writing. For me, typing is always easier just because of my handwriting but I also do enjoy writing in Korean free hand. I really like the way the letters look and how simple they are to create. Since I am still a relatively novice at Korean we have been sticking to very simple things, for example writing my Korean name. Korean is a bit different from English because of the way the sentences are formatted Korean is subject object verb (SOV) while English is subject verb object (SVO). This has been a large adjustment because in English you typically have a preset understanding of how sentences flow but when you learn Korean or any other language that follows a different order you have to rework the way that your brain thinks. Again while this can be seen as a challenge Isaac makes it very digestible, in which we working on creating SIMPLE sentences like “잘 지내”. We have been working on my conversational Korean just because we want to build a basis for understanding, working up from extremely novice concepts to more complex ones.
