According to my research, the root of French can be found in romance languages, indo-European language family. Romance languages include not only french but also languages like Spanish and Italien. My roommate is from Barcalona and he told me that there is a strong linkage between Spanish and French. A native speaker of each of two languages is capable of learning the other one quickly. Credited to French phonology, several distinct features of French sounds are nasal sound and word-to-word liaison. It seems like more works need to be done in considering historical perspectives since English is similar to French in multiple ways and categorized in indo-European language family as French. I surmize colonization as a causing factor for this. To naively speculate the origin and culture of unique nasal sound systems, I reached out to my FYS professor who speaks 3 languages in which, French is included. He told me that in ancient times, the nasal sound “n” has the pronunciation “n-ne”. Later, French dropped the ending “ne”. With only “n” that needs to be pronounced, nasal sounds appear to be evidently sensed. French is also moving toward modern French like other languages, meaning that it is evolving over time. Surprisingly, English, a language French influenced a lot, becomes the major language influencing modern French the most. Linguists had noticed that by mapping the dialects of French speakers with their corresponding regions. Therefore, even a tiny change in vowel or phone can be revealed easily. In this case, data signifies that French started talking in English ways in terms of connotations in quipping, wording sequence, and grammatical preference.

I think it was very interesting that a language could be related to a emotion. I think that may be a reason why people can connect with it more deeply. It may also be the reason they could learn other languages easier if it is also related to the same emotions.
