Cultural Post #8

Although most of these cultural aspects of Korea I already knew from being Korean and growing up in a traditional Korean household. However, there were some aspects of Korean culture that I was not too aware about. For example, regarding Korean attitude towards time, I did not know that there were groups of people that took social gatherings time very loosely. I had always been punctual with my social gatherings among Korean friends, as they had been as well. I guess I was surprised because my personal experience did not line up with what the cultural post about time said.

However, it's important to recognize the culture while learning the language. There are subtle nuances the culture has on the language, specifically in Korean. Having to learn the honoric forms for family members, as well as learning the language to speak formally to another is a key part of the language being influenced by its culture.
