This week we watch a Korean movie without subtitles. The movie is called Along with the Gods 2 and takes place in between Earth and Heaven. It has to do with trials a human will go through before being admitted into a heaven. There a lot of historical figures and the trials are set up like a normal lawyer, judge, and prosecutor trial. I was actually very proud of myself for being able to watch the movie without subtitles because they used a lot of historical and technical vocabulary that were unfamiliar to me. Throughout the movie, I took notes of the vocabulary/expressions that I did not know (there was a lot) and Evelyn did a good job of explaining and stopping the movie when it was needed. It was also a good review of formal language because when lawyers are talking to the judge (who was the god of the underworld) they had to use formal language. Overall, I liked the movie and I thought Evelyn picked a good movie to review everything we have learned so far in the semester.
