This week Atul and I laid a lot of good groundwork for the rest of the semester. As we decided last week, we wanted to increase my vocabulary by learning new verbs. Atul decided it would be best if I learned 10 new verbs each week. On Tuesday, I learned the verbs and their tenses. We focused on the infinitive, present, and future tenses. This was supplemented with clarification of a lot of basic grammar that I had heard before but never fully understood. We focused on pronouns, helping verbs, sentence structure, auxiliary verbs, and the formal and informal first, second, and third person ways to speak to people. On Wednesday when we met again, we realized that learning the past, present, and future continuous tense would be used more often while speaking so we focused on that sentence structure. Throughout these grammar lessons we worked on the latin script writing as well as speaking. Finally at the end of the week, we reviewed all the verbs and used them in sentences. While using them in sentences I found it easier to write it down first so I knew the structure and then say it out loud. I will soon have to move away from that habit because I will not be able to write down sentences every time I want to say something.

I have to continuously practice using these verbs to retain them and become more confident in forming sentences. Overall, I'm glad that we have covered a lot of basic grammar because that is what I have been confused about in the past.

Attached is a verb conjugation chart we found online for the Hindi word bolna which means to speak. I created a similar chart in my own notebook that includes most of these conjugations. This website was very helpful overall.
