110 Cultural Post 6

In the Korean culture, there is a paradox about time.
Usually, punctuality is regarded as an etiquette in the culture. In professional situations, it is a polite manner to arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the appointment time.
With more comfortable relationships, such as friendships, the time culture is more lenient.
However, elders are not very punctual. There is a culture that if a Korean wedding is to start at 4 PM, it actually starts at 4:30 because the guests are late. Because elders are extremely respected in the culture, younger individuals usually wait without complaint.
