Reflection Paper 2

This semester of learning Korean was great, I had a lot of fun getting to become more familiar with my language and culture. My language partner was great in helping me do so and I was also able to help him improve as well. I was able to learn that language goes much further than just speaking, reading, and writing. I was able to go the depths of history and culture and acquire knowledge and understanding that I thought I would never obtain. One of the most difficult parts of this semester was, of course, writing as that is my weakest point in Korean. I did improve a good amount, however, through many exercises and a lot of practice. What I enjoyed was speaking new words that I learned through media and dramas, and I think that I was able to learn best through this way as well. I will continue learning through most of the same strategies that I used this semester as they go a long way for beginners, intermediates, and advanced learners. Using the phonetic chart was very helpful in allowing me to understand the differences between sounds and which sounds exist in Korean versus English. I would like to learn more about vocabulary so that I can really have a large arsenal of words that I can speak and write in Korean to really become a fluent and proficient speaker.

Hi! I agree with you that writing is the most difficult part of learning Korean. I personally struggle the most with Korean grammar. Broadening your vocabulary will significantly elevate your Korean writing skills! Keep the hard work going!
